Developing digital twins of multi-camera metrology systems in Blender

Abstract Blender is an open-source three-dimensional animation software, which can be used as a simulation tool in metrology, to build numerical models that the design and optimisation of camera-based measurement systems. In this work, relevance using model systems was explored. Two experiments were conducted real-world modelled environments, one individual cameras for simple task, other considering multi-camera position optimisation. The objective verify whether virtual created perceive measure objects same manner real equivalent environment. results demonstrate its native modelling format satisfies optical metrology characteristics measurement, but correlation between output highly sensitive initial parameters such illumination intensity, camera definitions object surface texture.
